J.R.D. Tata (July 29, 1904 - November 29, 1993)
From the very beginning, TajSATS’ passion for excellence in the aviation industry was an intrinsic part of its inheritance. Mr. J.R.D. Tata was known as the Father of Indian Civil Aviation and introduced it in the Indian subcontinent in 1932 when he launched Tata Airlines, later known as Air India.
In the early seventies, the pioneers of Taj Hotels envisioned taking their world-class hospitality and inimitable customer experience to the skies as well. Thus, Taj Air Caterers was born in 1976.
Founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868, the Tata group is a global enterprise, comprising over 100 independently operating companies. The group operates in six continents, driven by a mission to improve the quality of life of the communities it serves globally.
Through long-term stakeholder value creation based on ‘Leadership with Trust', the Tata brand stands as a lasting promise behind its businesses, many of which are industry leaders.
IHCL is honoured to be one of the first of those timeless and tireless initiatives.
